ACT Initiates Eddie Carroll Street Stock Sportsmanship Award
For Immediate Release ACT77-121602
Waterbury, VT - ACT will present the 1st annual Eddie Carroll Street Stock Sportsmanship Award at its 2002 Banquet of Champions, Saturday, January 18, 2003 at the Sheraton-Burlington in Burlington, VT.
The award has been created in memory of ACT official Eddie Carroll, who was recently fatally struck by a stray hunter's bullet at his residence in Berlin, VT. Carroll had served as a pit steward and flag man at Thunder Road in Barre, VT and Airborne Raceway in Plattsburgh, NY for nearly two decades.
"Eddie was universally liked by everyone," said ACT President Tom Curley. "He was one of those unique people, who would never complain about any job he was asked to do. The racers loved him, especially the Street Stocks, who he watched out for, kept in line and joked around with."
The Street Stocks are a four-cylinder novice division that races weekly at Airborne and Thunder Road. Airborne Street Stock champion Jamie Rabideau of Mooers Forks, NY and Thunder Road Street Stock champion Brendan Moodie Jr of North Wolcott, VT will be among the honorees at the ACT awards banquet as well as many of the Late Model competitors on the ACT New England Dodge Tour.
The reservation deadline for the 2002 Banquet of Champions is Monday, January 6, 2003. Tickets ($30) must be purchased in advance, none will be available at the door. For further information, call the ACT office (802) 244-6963 Mon-Thurs 8:30-5 pm or visit
