Sprint Cars in Granby Quebec at Autodrome Granby... lemme tell ya... if you can go to a friday night show... GO! The Sprints were a special event but weekly they have 2 classes of modifieds, a 4cyl division, a v-8 Bomber class and a ton of cars that show up.... and they race hard. It is just an hour and a half from the Burlington Area and the exchange rate is still decent for those coming from the US.... Granby has a NICE track and excellent staff.
Here is one of the modifieds....awesome power in these cars and great racing. They are not afraid to mix it up.
Alex Fortier sits and waits his turn to race. Check out the mud clumps on the roof.... that is soo coool.
Coming out of turn four everyone is on the gas hard.
They sure do come through in big packs too.... the dirt was a flying on this night, it was fantastic!
The best thing about dirt racing is you see guys run all kinds of different lines around the track... you never know where the fast groove is going to be and if it will be there later as the track changes all night.
Case in point... look at the different approaches to turn 1 and 2... guys are everywhere and sliding all over the place while putting down a ton of horsepower.
The 61 car was real fast and the guy was definitely one of the top dogs at the track.
But even Top Dogs have bad days... here the motor just lets go right before the end of his qualifying race. The team busted ass all night to get the car back out for the feature.. I was impressed.
The Sprint Cars.. lemme just say... WOW, they are FAST! The feature was awesome with a pass on the last lap for the win.
14 yr old Sprint Car driver Nick Fratto in the F1 ride.... imagine.. 14yrs old and piloting one of the most viscous race cars made....makes ya think don't it?
Hey, guess who I ran into at the track.... Racing Legend Jean Paul Cabana, who just happened to be my boyhood hero. My night was made when I got to hang out with JP for a bit and talk racing. JP is every bit a nice guy as he was an good driver.
