I used to listen to Corm and the Coach every morning when I was younger. Some good radio for sure. It is nice to see that a local bought WDEV and not some big monolith of a radio company that would just ruin it. Hope Corm has great success with the station.

Was watching Pawn Stars a few nights ago when somebody came in to sell some Tonya Harding memorabilia. That reminded me of one of Coach Tom's old jokes that went something like "Do you know why Jeff Gillooly wants to get plastic surgery? He wants to be able to walk into any trailer park in America without being recognized." icon_biggrin

Like they always said, "If we can't kid each other, who can we kid?"

There are definitally enough stations owned by Hall Communications around here who play the same few hundred songs over and over again, day after day, with no variety. I remember when WIZN was a little station from Vergennes at 106.3 that came in good in Peru but not so much in Plattsburgh. To go from something that matched CHOM for Rock & Roll back in the 80's & 90's to what it is now is really sad. I think we all got lucky here.

Almost forgot these from Corm and the Coach days, always will make you smile:

Seeing that nobady else wants to post anything, here's another one of my Corm and the Coach on WIZN memories. My favorite guest was always "the man of a thousand voices". He did great impersonations of Bill Clinton & Ronald Reagan among others. The joke I'll always remember is when he was doing Ronald Reagan (during his early battle with Alzheimer's disease) and said "Well, Nan's mad at me again. She sent me out to the video store to get Scent Of A Woman and I came back with A Fish Called Wanda." I don't understand why they offended some people? icon_biggrin

http://www.wcax.com/content/news/Radio-Vermont-sold-to-employee-446923893.html

This may not be 100% race related, but great to see that Radio Vermont has been sold to somebody locally. As a daily listener of 101The One as well as NASCAR & some ACT races on WDEV, keeping things local is great. And as for me, somebody who tried to listen to Corm and the Coach every day, congrats to Steven and good luck going forward. I think Ken Squier has done a great job selling what might be his 2 biggest assets and protecting their futures. Probably all of us would like to have control of our affairs rather than letting somebody else handle our estate after we die, great job and thank you Ken Squier!

I recall going to Bowman Gray in 2005 and took the girls to the souvenir building and I kid you not almost half the shirts were T Cís.  Also saw a lot fans with his shirts on also, it was a 100 lap Mod special going on that night and then understood that just because you donít race at a large track does not mean you do not have a large impact.

Back in 2011 at Airborne I watched TC mop up the field in a Super Modified. At the end of the night we went into the pits. Everyone had cleared out. As we were leaving, who appears?  Teddy. He talked to us for like 20 minutes.  He said he loved the track. Easily one of the highlights of my career as a fan.  A friend of mine who was not a TC fan, "she's a Ryan Newman fan" and roots against Teddy when they run modifieds made a wonderful statement about him that just about put me to tears.
"It was fun loving to hate him. He is by far one of the greatest of all time".
RIP Ted Christopher.
