I have been going to the races at T-road since I can remember. There was always a large crowd there with few problems. I have seen over the last couple years the attendance has drastically de-creased , and not all due to bad economy. I still love watching the racing, but there seems to be no respect among fans anymore. WE sit in the turn four stands and at the end we exit up the hill to the path up there. On several occasions there have been drunk ass morons standing in plain sight on the path pissing. This is while men, women, and yes even children walk by. What the frig show some respect. The police do nothing to discourage this so it gets worse and worse every week. And there is a wonderfull new invention called running water and soap. Many folks seem to not know that fact and smell of their last two shits !!!! Very very sad state of affairs in my opinion.

WHOOOOOOOAAAAA COWBOY!!!!!!!!!!
The racing is better then ever.
The crowd size this year is very good. Not like last year.. but then again last year might have been the greatest year EVER for TR for Crowd size.
Jerry...you are spoiled. Go to some other local race tracks and tell me what you see...
It will make you even prouder of what you see every week at TR.
Its truely the Nations Site of Excitement!

Wow, you can't seem to take any criticisim of Thunder Road at all can you? I have been going to races there for a very long time and I too park in the upper parking lot and have to walk through the drunken idiots with my children and have seen the same thing. I think lack of respect is everywhere not just at TR and it is very unfortunate. What kind of message are you giving children when you don't have the decency to walk down to the bathroom.

I noticed something this year too. Bathrooms have not been as clean as in the past. People are leaving tons of crap in the bleacher area when they leave. More people than ever are allowed to stand near the fence area or just stop to chit-chat for 10 minutes at a time while blocking others view. There also seems to be something else........there is not much passion. Maybe because of the new drivers? Maybe we/I/you don't know who you like or don't. There is hardly Any cheering for wins and not much booing either. No passion. I loved watching Eric Williams - enjoyed rooting for him - LOVED it when other booed. The atmosphere just seems blah, except for the bad crashes and I'm as much to blame as anyone.

I noticed it last year on Bud hill and it sounds as though it is getting worse up there. Maybe security should start getting a bit stricter with these guys getting drunk and disrespecting others. Especially relieveing themselves in public. All security has to do is talk with these people and warn them. Then if it keeps up start coming down on them. It seems security is getting lax in that respect.

I've noticed you don't see security walking around as much - maybe that contributes to some of these problems. I agree with Jerry about the soap & water. We sit in the family section & I would say at least 1/2 of the people are in need of a good scrubbing. As far as the bathrooms go - the woman's bathroom seems to be clean as usual. The man is usually in there cleaning throughout the night. I have heard the men's bathroom is a different story.
We went to Twin State last night - and the crowd was quite vocal with boos and cheers which TRoad has been lacking some of this year but they have there own respect problems there too. They have a ton of people smoking and blowing their smoke everywhere. I do not miss that at the road. My sweatshirt smelled like a smokehouse when I left. And they have a lot of very vocal fans yelling swears which isn't something anyone would want children around.

Twin State has a non smoking area that holds over 1000 seats . You must not have sat in the non smoking area because iv'e seen officers enforce that rule.

I've been going to Thunder Road long enough to have fond memories of the wooden main grandstand with that being said you can't deine the upgrades to the facility. I hike my butt up the back walkway to the upper lot each week. I have too noticed a couple of drunks coming from Budhill but isn't that part of the allure of TR (just like the crappy track lighting?). I would much rather put up with the Budhill crowd than feel like a prison inmate like I felt at Devils Bowl. There seams to be alot more respect from people leaving the upper parking lot letting people out in front of them. I agree crowd size seams down but maybe the earlier start times have something to do with it also. And don't forget Kens three rules.....

If you have been going to the "road" for that long I would think by now you should know whats going on up there. If you don't like what you see, then go a different way to the upper lot. We should all be happy that all that stuff happens in one spot and we have the choice to avoid it, if we want. As far as smelly people, give me a break. Lots of people don't get out of work until 5:00 and then have to get the family together and haul ass to make it there by 6:30. Once again if you don't like it, move to a different spot. I do agree that the numbers are down some and it doesn't seem that people have the passion they once did, but I believe the racing is better than ever. We have had several different winners this year and except for a couple of crazy nights the racing has been fun to watch.

I keep seeing this statement, but I can't disagree more. I don't think I can name 5 tigers drivers who can make a clean pass.......

Maybe a few portolets at the top of bud hill would help (chained to the fence of course). People have been watering the same trees for years. If they didn't use the woods there would be constant stream of stumblers coming down the grandstands during the race. The layout of the upper grandstands is not great. The best flow of people to the upper lot is the back path which is a like a drive through parc safari. Upper bathrooms would help a lot. I'll never forget the time I was at Sanair in line for the cement porolet and people were relieving themselves on the side of the house. Like the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make um piss in the urinal.

They should put some condos in turn 4 with bathrooms in the bottom. Add a nice lighted path along the fence to discourage public urination.

I would think if you see someone pissing in public you could point it out to a cop at the track and they would take care of it.
Kind of hard for the track to police people to that extent.
